Python Backend Engineer (FastAPI)

We build Python backends for products that often include some AI. You will write the services behind them in FastAPI, work with PostgreSQL and connect to third-party APIs.

Most of the job is careful engineering: clear endpoints, data that is validated on the way in, and code the next person can read. Some projects add language model features, so you will use those APIs too, though deep AI experience is not required.

The work:

• Build and maintain FastAPI services
• Write database models, migrations and queries
• Integrate external APIs and handle their failures properly
• Add tests and keep them passing
• Work with frontend and mobile developers on API design

• 3 or more years of professional Python
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask or Django
• SQL and relational database design
• Understanding of async code, and of when it helps
• Tests with pytest or similar

Nice to have:

• Experience calling language model APIs
• Celery or another task queue
• Docker and cloud deployment
