About this test

This test is built around the Flutter Developer role. It covers Dart basics, how widgets and state work, layout, asynchronous code and the project tools you use every day.

It is practice only and is not part of any job application.

What it covers

The question set has 24 questions: 12 easy, 11 medium and 1 hard. Each attempt draws 20 of them at random, so a second try is not the same test.

  • App structure (3)
  • Dart (7)
  • Layout (4)
  • Widgets and state (10)

Try a few sample questions

These are real questions from the set, with the answers and a short explanation. Read the question, decide, then open it to check.

Sample 1 · Dart · easyWhat is the difference between final and const in Dart?Show the answer
  • None
  • final is set once at runtime, const must be known at compile timeCorrect
  • const can change, final cannot
  • final is only for numbers

Both stop reassignment. A const value is fixed when the code is compiled, and const widgets can be reused and not rebuilt.

Sample 2 · Widgets and state · easyWhat is the main difference between StatelessWidget and StatefulWidget?Show the answer
  • Stateless widgets are faster to write only
  • A StatefulWidget has a State object that can change and trigger a rebuildCorrect
  • Stateless widgets cannot show text
  • There is no difference

A StatelessWidget depends only on its inputs. A StatefulWidget keeps mutable state.

Sample 3 · Layout · easyWhich widget lays its children out in a horizontal line?Show the answer
  • Column
  • RowCorrect
  • Stack
  • Table

Row is horizontal and Column is vertical. Stack overlaps its children.

How it works

  • 20 multiple choice questions, drawn at random from a larger set.
  • 20 minutes on the clock. The test submits itself when time runs out.
  • Pass mark: 60%.
  • No marks are taken off for wrong answers, so answer every question.
  • Some questions have more than one correct answer. You must pick all of them to score.
  • When you finish you see your score, the correct answers and a short explanation for each.
  • Your answers save as you go, so a dropped connection will not lose your work.
  • Please stay on the test page. Switching to another tab or window is recorded and you will see a warning.
  • Copying text, printing and screenshots are not allowed during the test.
